Raymond McAteer is a second-year student at Arts University Bournemouth, studying Commercial Photography with a specialisation in documentary photography. Although based in Bournemouth, he regularly returns to Northern Ireland, his home country to create his work. During these visits, Raymond focuses on documenting the historical and political landscape, particularly the lasting effects of the Troubles and how life in Northern Ireland has evolved over time.
Raymond's photography explores contemporary political movements, societal issues, and the stories of small minority groups, including the LGBTQI+ community. He is passionate about capturing how these communities and movements are shaping our world today. Through his work, Raymond strives to capture the essence of his subjects, showcasing their personality and uniqueness within the frame. His goal is to reveal the distinct stories and identities of those he encounters, allowing their voices and experiences to shine through. Whether documenting activism, social shifts, or global challenges, Raymond's work seeks to highlight the often-overlooked that define our times.
